All of our Pre-Sessional courses are taught at the University of York International Pathway College, located on the University campus.
The University of York International Pathway College offers a range of Pre-Sessional English (PSE) courses for postgraduate students who have accepted a conditional offer to study at the University of York.
This comprehensive course will focus on developing your English language level and academic writing skills, helping you prepare for master’s degree-level study. You will also have the opportunity to experience university life before you start your degree.
If you have applied for an undergraduate degree or have an unconditional offer for a degree at a UK university, Pre-Sessional English courses are also available at the International Pathway College.
You can choose from 5 different subject areas to suit your degree:
Courses are taught over 10, 15, or 20 weeks, depending on your IELTS requirements. The 15 and 20 week options include additional study of general academic and English language skills.

Students who hold a conditional degree offer from another university may apply to study a Pre-Sessional English course at the University of York International Pathway College, but must ensure that they will meet the conditions of their offer by successfully completing the course.
Pre-Sessional English courses are also available to students who have applied for an undergraduate degree, or hold an unconditional offer from another UK university. Please visit the University of York website for more information.
